MOORHEAD, Minn. - The last seconds in Friday nights basketball game between MInnesota State University Moorhead and the University of MInnesota Duluth proved crucial for both team's as the Dragons snuck by the Bulldogs, 67-65, on 'Go Pink with the Dragons' night at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.

A crucial turnover after an offensive rebound by the Bulldogs gave the Dragons a chance to take the game, as the team's were tied at 65 with 40 seconds left in to play. The Bulldogs had started with the ball with 58 second left after the Dragon stied up the game by hitting one of two free throws.

UMD ran the shot-clock down to ten seconds before taking a shot from behind the arc, the shot was missed and grabbed by the Bulldogs' Kelsey Hewitt. Hewitt then turned over the ball three seconds later to give the Dragons the shot to take the game.

After a time out, the Dragons fired the ball around the court before Brittany Mayclin let the ball go just as the time expired on the shot clock. The ball would hit the rim but miss the net, but Angie Jetvig was there waiting as she grabbed the board with three seconds left and was fouled on her way up to the hoop.

Jetvig hit both of her free-throws with three seconds left to play to give the Dragons the 67-65 lead. A hail-Mary shot from the Bulldogs could not give them the win as time expired.

The Dragons trailed, 38-33, at halftime, but took their first lead of the second half with 14:50 left to play. The lead changed 13 times during the second half and it was the Dragon's sharp shooting from the free throw line that proved the difference.

MSUM went 9-for-11 from the charity stripe in the second half while UMD hit eight of their 15 attempts. In the game, the Dragons shot 81.8 percent from the line while the Bulldogs shot 50 percent.

Jetvig led all scorers with 17 points. She had five rebounds and one assist. Megan Strese was big off the bench for the Dragons as she scored a career high 16 points and grabbed five boards. Brittany Mayclin chipped in 12 points while Morgan Zabel had 10.

The Dragons overall record moves to 11-10 while they sit sixth in the league with a 9-8 tally. MSUM will host Bemidji State at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.
