Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference named Minnesota State University Moorhead football's
Jeff Schuette as the Defensive Player of the Week following a 16 tackle performance Saturday against University of Minnesota, Crookston.
The tackle total by the senior from Plymouth, Minn. led all defenders in the game, one tackle coming as a four-yard loss. Schuette forced the game winning fumble in the Golden Eagle's first overtime drive, concreting a 29-22 Dragon victory.
"This was the most emotional win we've had since I've been here, and there was just no way we were going to lose today, not on our field, not at our homecoming," said Schuette following the team's homecoming victory.
The 16 tackle game is the highest by a Dragon defender since
Jake Larsen, six solo 10 assisted, in a 14-6 loss to Bemidji State last October. Schuette's season total for tackles is 38 with one tackle for a loss and one forced fumble.
Schuette and the Dragons football team travel to the defending NCAA Division II national champion University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday for a 6 p.m. match-up.
