MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team got its 2012-13 regular season off to a strong start on Friday with a 171-80 dual-meet win over Northern State in action Friday night at the Alex Nemzek pool in Moorhead, Minn.

The Dragons won 13 events on the day in their regular-season debut.

Freshman Rachel Erickson continued to shine after returning from a two-year hiatus as she led off the winning 400 medley relay with a near lifetime best time in her 100 backstroke split.  Her time of 1:02.27 was also the seventh fastest all-time for the Dragons.  Erickson also won the 100 backstroke (1:03.41), finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:21.33), and anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay with a 25.78 split.

Freshman Jackie Woods swept the 100 breaststroke (1:08.13 - fifth all-time) and 200 breaststroke (2:33.01 - seventh all-time) and swam the breaststroke leg on the winning 400 medley relay.  Woods also placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:06.70).

The swim of the meet was freshman Shae Brodrero in the 400 IM as she won with a time of 4:52.18.  That makes her the sixth-fastest all-time for the Dragons in that event.  Bodrero also won the 200 backstroke (2:17.01) and had the fourth-fastest time in the 200 freestyle (2:06.71)

Sophomore Susie Kitzman was a triple event winner, sweeping the 50 free (25.92), 100 free (56.01) and leading off the winning 200 freestyle relay.

The Dragons also got wins from junior Laura Goll in the 1,000 freestyle (11:37.02), junior Jenna Thompson in the 200 free (2:05.95), junior Angelee Hale in the 500 free (5:36.54) and sophomore Marisa Yasuda in the 100 butterfly (1:04.09).
