Katy Ness has compiled another weekly honor from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, earning the league's Defensive Player of the Week honors for a sixth time in 2012, it was announced on Monday. The honor is the 11th for Ness in the last two seasons.
Ness surpassed a career milestone last week during the Dragons' heartbreaking five-set loss to Augustana on Oct. 19. She surpassed 2,000 for her career during the fourth set.
For the week, Ness had 99 digs -- 43 against Northern State on Oct. 16, followed by 26 against Augustana and 30 against Wayne State. She averaged 7.07 digs per set to lead the league during the week.
For the season, Ness is ranked fifth in all of Division II at 6.31 digs per set, and leads the NSIC in that category as well. She now has 2,038 career digs.
MSUM is at home this weekend to face St. Cloud State on Friday and No. 4-ranked Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday.
