MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team (3-1) will make its 2012-13 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference debut on Saturday when it plays at Northern State. The game begins at 5 p.m. at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen, S.D.
MSUM (3-1) split a pair of games in Hawaii last week, while the Wolves (4-0) beat Nebraska-Kearney and William Penn in St. Paul, Minn.
In the all-time series between the two schools, Northern State holds a 41-22 advantage. MSUM swept the meetings a year ago, winning 72-62 in Aberdeen and 58-47 in Moorhead. In 2010-11, Northern State won both meetings.

As a team, MSUM scores 73.5 points per game and allows 60.8. The Dragons shoot 42.9 percent from the field and out rebound their opponents by an average of 41.0-31.5.
Karla Nelson is in her 13th season as MSUM's head coach with a record of 211-138.
About Northern State
Northern State is 4-0 on the year, all in nonconference games. The Wolves beat Nebraska-Kearney, 68-58 on Nov. 23, thanks to Megan Mutchler's 11 points, and followed with 76-73 win over William Penn on Nov. 24, with Rachel Krogman scoring 21 points.
The Wolves are led in scoring and rebounding by Krogman, who averages 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Alison Kusler averages 11.5 points per game for the Wolves, who are averaging 67.5 points per game as a team.
On defense, teams are scoring just 55.2 points per game against Northern. The Wolves also out rebound their opponents, 46.2-28.0.
Curt Fredrickson is in his 34th year as Northern's head coach with a record of 711-259 at the school.
Preseason Poll
MSUM was picked to finish 11th in the NSIC in a polling of the league's coaches. The Dragons were picked to finish fourth in the NSIC's North Division.

Yernatich is at 147 three-pointers, just four behind the all-time record held by Kris Wilson of 151.
