MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon swimming and diving team will host the College of Saint Benedict Blazers in a dual at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 in Alex Nemzek pool.
The Dragons come into the dual against St. Ben's after having competed in the Cows, Colleges and Contentment Classic in Northfield, Minn. Six teams competed in the meet, including NSIC rivals St. Cloud State University and Minnesota State. No team scores were kept at the meet.
Junior
Jenna Thompson headlined for the Dragons, taking first place honors in the 50 free with a time of 24.72 and third place in the 100 free with a 54.79. Thompson was also a member of the second-place 200 free relay team. Thompson teamed up with
Rachel Walsh,
Susie Kitzman and
Megan Rieland for the relay and finished with a time of 1:39.80.
Divers
Kelsey Jandro and
Shayna Dugger finished in the top 10 in both the 1-meter and 3-meter board contests for the Dragons. Jandro finished fourth on the 3-meter and seventh on the 1-meter. The ladies flip-flopped events with Dugger claiming fifth place honors on the 1-meter and a sixth place finish on the 3-meter.
The Blazers meet with the Dragons after a strong opening meet on Nov. 3 in St. Paul, Minn. at the Hamline Invite. The Blazers finished second at the meet with 548 points, just five points out of first place. The College of Saint Benedict took home eight first place finishes on the day
At 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 the Dragons head to Eau Claire, Wisc. for a dual, followed by an invitational against Eau Claire, River Falls and Oshkosh on Nov. 17.
