MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Five Minnesota State University Moorhead players had eight kills or more as the Dragons swept Minnesota-Crookston, 25-17, 25-14, 25-17, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball Friday night in Moorhead, Minn.
The Dragons improved to 16-12 overall and 8-11 in the NSIC, while UMC fell to 11-15 overall and 7-12 in the league.

Annie Palmquist had 10 kills each for MSUM, while senior

Katy Ness had a match-high 19 digs while Lensing added 13. VanWinkle had one solo block and four assists.
The Dragons dominated the match, hitting .295 while holding the Golden Eagles to an .065 percentage. They never trailed once in the match.
Setting the tone right away, MSUM stormed out to a 10-3 lead, thanks to three Egeland kills and two from VanWinkle. Ness added a service ace.
Crookston was as close as 19-14, but back-to-back blocks -- which included two assists from VanWinkle -- helped the Dragons claim a 21-14 lead. The lead never dropped below five as MSUM rolled to a 25-17 win.
The second set was close early, as the Dragons held a 9-7 lead. They scored five straight points -- including a kill and block from VanWinkle -- to stretch the lead to 14-7. From there, MSUM pulled away to a comfortable 25-14 win.
The third set was also close early, as Crookston had climbed within 10-8 after a Dragon error. However, MSUM scored four straight points -- which included kills from Gruber, Egeland and Lensing -- to push the lead to 14-8. Crookston climbed within 21-17, but the Dragons scored the final four points -- on three coming on kills from Gruber, VanWinkle and Lensing off of assists from Olson -- to secure a 25-17 win.
Olson added nine digs for MSUM, while Egeland, Lensing and freshman
Abby Wolpern added two block assists each.
MSUM wraps up the 2012-13 season at home against Bemidji State on Saturday. The match begins at 4 p.m. at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.
