MSUM opened the game on a 5-0 run over the first 3:15, thanks to a Charette three and a basket by junior
Haley Thomforde. However, the Dragons would not score for the next six minutes until Zabel hit two free throws with 10:46 left in the half.
Despite the cold spell, MSUM held a 7-4 lead as the Dragon defense forced UMD to go 0-of-17 from the field to start the game.
Eventually, both teams warmed up from the field a little, and a 5-0 spurt to end the half helped the Bulldogs take a 24-19 lead into halftime.

However, the Bulldogs scored nine straight -- which proved to be a pivotal run -- to stretch the lead to 42-28. MSUM was unable to close the gap to less than double digits the rest of the way.
Thomforde added eight points and two assists, while Zabel and senior
