MINOT, N.D. – Sophomore
Erin Nyberg scored a goal, but the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team came up short in its season opener at Minot State on Thursday, dropping a 7-1 decision in Minot, N.D. The Dragons dropped to 0-1 on the season while Minot State moved to 1-0 after the nonconference win.
Nyberg's goal came at the 33:08 mark and brought the Dragons within 3-1 in the first half, which was the halftime score. However, Minot State used four second-half goals to pull away in the win.
MSUM had a 9-8 edge in shots in the first half, but Minot State turned the table in the second half with a 10-3 advantage.
Sophomore
Stephanie Lindo had four shots, including two on goal, to lead the Dragon offense, while Nyberg and freshman
Kelsey Schatz each had two shots, including one on goal. MSUM had six shots on goal for the night.
Junior
Victoria Hoffman had four saves in net for the Dragons.
MSUM makes its home debut Sunday at 1 p.m. against St. Cloud State in another nonconference game.
