MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team begins a three-game homestand Tuesday against Northern State. Game time is 8 p.m. at Alex Nemzek Hall in Moorhead, Minn.
The Dragons (13-2, 7-2 NSIC) saw an eight-game winning streak end with a 82-64 loss at No. 11 Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday. The night before, MSUM rolled to a 79-64 win at Concordia. Northern State is 12-4 overall and 7-2 in the league; the Wolves lost at MSU Mankato, 83-76 before beating Concordia, 79-73 in overtime to wrap up last weekend's play.
The game is a battle for first place in the NSIC North Division -- the Dragons and Wolves are tied with St. Cloud State for the division lead at 7-2 -- and also a battle of two teams tied for second in the overall NSIC standings.
MSUM and Northern State will meet for a 96th time, with the Wolves holding a 62-33 edge in the all-time series. Northern State won the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season, 69-66 with Collin Pryor scoring 21 points for the Wolves.
Anthony Tucker led the Dragons with 16 points.

About MSUM
The Dragons split two games on the road last weekend. MSUM beat Concordia-St. Paul, 79-64 on Friday, thanks to 29 points from Tucker, but saw its eight-game winning streak end at No. 11-ranked Minnesota State Mankato the next night, falling 82-64. Freshman
Tyler Vaughan led MSUM with a career-high 21 points.
Tucker leads the Dragons at 20.8 points per game, a mark that is tied for 18th in all of Division II. He also leads the team in three-pointers (40) and assists (60). He is also shooting an impressive 88.0 percent (66-of-75) from the free-throw line. Senior
Alex Novak is having a solid year at 12.5 points and a team-best 8.7 rebounds per game. He also leads with 25 blocks. Sophomore
Jordan Riewer averages 11.3 points per game for the Dragons, who average 76.6 points per game as a team and allow 65.1. MSUM shoots 48.9 percent from the field.
Chad Walthall is in his third season at MSUM with a record of 49-24 at the school.
About Northern State
The Wolves are 12-4 overall and 7-2 in the NSIC. They split on the road last weekend, losing at No. 11 Minnesota State, 83-76 despite 18 points from Pryor before beating Concordia, 79-73 in overtime. Dustin Tetzlaff led Northern with 23 points in the overtime win.
Pryor leads Northern at 15.1 points per game, while Michael Emge is at 11.9 points per contest and Tetzlaff at 11.1. Pryor leads at 7.3 rebounds per game, while Geoffrey Firmin leads with 53 assists. Northern State averages 72.5 points per game and allows 66.1.
Paul Sather is in his third season as Northern's head coach with a record of 37-31 at the school.
Climbing the Charts
Senior
Alex Novak is at 1,006 career points; he became the 26th Dragon player to surpass 1,000 for his MSUM career in the Dragons' win at Concordia. He is also at 877 rebounds and is the school's all-time record holder with 199 blocks. Novak is also second all-time in the NSIC in career rebounds with 668; he trails all-time leader Gus Johnson of Winona State by 151 for that mark.
Tucker also surpassed 1,000 points for his college basketball career at Mankato and is at 1,002 points for his career, which includes time at Iowa and Winona State.

The Dragons were picked to win the NSIC North Division in the preseason coaches poll and were picked to finish fifth overall in the league.
