ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- Sophomore Philippe Walker earned a hard-fought win at 133 pounds, but the Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team fell short at No. 1-ranked St. Cloud State on Thursday night, dropping a 34-3 dual in St. Cloud, Minn.

MSUM fell to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with the loss, while St. Cloud State, which moved to No. 1 in the NWCA Division II Coaches Poll on Wednesday, improved to 12-0 overall and 2-0 in NSIC duals.

Walker won the most exciting match of the night at 133 pounds with a 9-8 win over St. Cloud State's Eric Ellingson.  The match went to several overtime sessions before Walker was awarded the winning point for riding time.

Thje match started at 157 pounds, where SCSU's Clint Poster, ranked No. 8 in Division II, beat MSUM senior Jacob Bennett, 5-2. At 165, Dragon senior Kerron Williams fell to Gabe Fogarty, 8-2. At 174 pounds, Jesse Puncochar, fell to SCSU's Kurt Salmen, 6-3.

At 184 pounds, Shamus O'Grady, ranked No. 2 in Division II, beat MSUM's Matt Lewellen by major decision, while at 197, SCSU's Michael Berg pinned Lucas Moderow as the Huskies established a 19-0 lead.

At 285 pounds, SCSU's Caleb White was victorious over Dragon sophomore Gerad Fugleberg, earning a 9-3 decision. The Huskies won by forfeit at 125 to push the lead to 28-0.

Walker's win at 133 got the Dragons on the board. SCSU won by decision at 141 and 149 pounds to finish off the win.

MSUM is back in action on Jan. 23 at the University of Mary.
