MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead football team takes to the road this Saturday to face Minnesota Crookston in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match. Game time is 1 p.m. at Ed Widseth Field in Crookston, Minn.
Both teams are 1-5 overall and in the NSIC.
Head Coaches
Steve Laqua is in his third season as MSUM's head coach with a record of 4-24, while Mike Fritze is in his first season as UMC's head coach with a record of 1-5. Fritze is serving as interim coach for Paul Miller, who is taking a medical leave of absence for 2013.

About MSU Moorhead
Despite a record-setting day from its offense, MSUM fell short against No. 11-ranked Minnesota Duluth last week, falling 69-45. MSUM set three records in the game, including for total yards of offense (684), individual receiving yards (
Cory Ambrose, 237) and individual passing yards (
Jake Hodge, 472) against one of the nation's top defenses. Sophomore linebacker

Brandon Schell lead the Dragon ground game with 426 rushing yards apiece. Hodge has seven rushing touchdowns as well. Hodge also has thrown for 1,322 yards and 13 touchdowns and is completing 58.9 percent of its passes. Sophomore

Chris Binford has 36 tackles and a team-best six pass breakups. On defense, MSUM allows 47.3 points per game and 327.5 yards per game on the ground. Teams are throwing for 177.2 yards per game against the Dragons.
About Minnesota Crookston
Minnesota Crookston fell to 1-5 on the year with a 55-6 loss at St. Cloud State last week. The Golden Eagles were held to 10 first downs and 223 yards of total offense in the game.
Keith McBride leads the Golden Eagle ground attack with 300 rushing yards, while Talo Pascal has 235. Freshman quarterback Kyle Larson has thrown for 700 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions and is completing 48.5 percent of his passes. Justin Tago Su'e leads the team with 15 receptions. As a team, the Golden Eagles score 13.3 points per game and rush for 83.5 yards per game. UMC passes for 132.8 yards per game.
On defense, UMC is led by Tevin Kellum with 50 tackles and an interception. Andrew Hall has 45 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, while Brody Davidson has two sacks. The Golden Eagles surrender 46.2 points per game and allow 293.3 yards per contest on the ground. Teams are throwing for 222 yards per game against them.
Record-Setting Day
The Dragons' loss to No. 11-ranked Minnesota Duluth -- which came into the game ranked sixth in the nation in total defense and ninth in the nation in scoring defense -- produced several team single-game records. Quarterback

Cory Ambrose caught seven passes for a single-game record 237 yards, breaking a record that stood for 50 years. The Dragons' 684 total yards were also a single-game record, breaking a mark that stood for 19 years.
Bohl in Top 10 in Forced Fumbles
Not only is redshirt freshman
Aaron Bohl ranked second on the team in tackles, he is also ranked sixth in the nation in forced fumbles per game at 0.50. He leads the NSIC in that category as well with a total of three.

Sophomore receiver
Adam Jiskra had a solid freshman year, leading MSUM in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in 2012. Now a sophomore, he continues to be a main weapon in the receiving arsenal. A week after setting a career-high for receiving yards with 180, Jiskra set a new career-high for catches with 11 on 139 yards to help the Dragons edge Northern State on Oct. 5 in Aberdeen, S.D. Jiskra is 20th in the national in receiving touchdowns (six), 24th in receiving yards (596), 28th in receiving yards per game (99.3) and 36th in receptions per game (6.5).
Hodge Ranked Nationally
Sophomore quarterback
Jake Hodge's play has been stellar in the past three games. During those three contests, the Kasson, Minn., native has thrown for 1,049 yards and 10 touchdowns -- with no interceptions. And those numbers have him climbing the national Division II rankings. He is ranked seventh in total offense per game (349.6), ninth in points responsible for (122), 27th in passing touchdowns (13), 33rd in passing efficiency (144.5) and 38th in passing yards per game (264.4). Hodge leads the NSIC in total offense per game.

After having only two 100-yard rushers in 2013, MSUM has had four already in six games in 2013.
Brandon Schell and
Jake Hodge both posted their second 100-yard rushing games of 2013 during Saturday's win at Minnesota-Duluth. It was the first time the Dragons had two players with more than 100 yards rushing since 2007, when Dustin Long (126 yards) and Enos Gilles (104) accomplished the feat against Wayne State.
