Rieland's Big Day Paces Dragon Swimmers and Divers at Northern Michigan Double Dual

MARQUETTE, Mich. – A win in the 50 freestyle by senior Megan Rieland highlighted the day for the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team at a double dual against Northern Michigan and St. Cloud State, which was held Saturday in Marquette, Mich.

MSUM fell in the two duals, losing to St. Cloud State, 188-109 and Northern Michigan, which was the host team, by a 204-95 score.

Rieland had a big weekend for MSUM. She captured the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.38, winning the event by .05 seconds. She was second in the 50 butterfly at 27.41, edging St. Cloud State's Meghan Carmichael by just .03 seconds.

The senior from Sauk Centre, Minn., also anchored the 200 freestyle relay which was second at 1:40.53, narrowly losing a highly-competitive race by .15 seconds. The Dragons edged St. Cloud State for second by .14 seconds. MSUM's relay contingent included sophomore Annika Bordak, junior Susie Kitzman, senior Angelee Hale and Rieland.

Senior diver Kelsey Jandro also had a good day. She was second in 1-meter diving at 224.30, ahead of St. Cloud State's Mary Woodson by nearly 10 points. Jandro was third in 3-meter diving with a score of 235.40. Emily Pascavis was fourth in the 1-meter diving at 212.45.

Bordak had a good day as well for MSUM. She was second in the 100 backstroke at 1:01.43 and was third in the 50 backstroke at 28.77. Sophomore Jackie Woods was third in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.88 and added a fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.88.

MSUM's 200 medley relay was third at 1:51.37. That consisted of Bordak, Woods, Rieland and Kitzman.

Hale was fourth in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:30.56 with teammate Laura Goll fifth at 11:49.98. Kitzman was fifth in the 50 free with a time of 25.90 and added a fifth in the 100 free (56.26).

Sophomore Kaitlyn McKinney was fifth in the 50 fly at 28.27, while freshman Kelly Engbring was sixth in the 200 free at 2:05.61.

MSUM is off until Nov. 1 when it competes at a quad with Carleton, St. Olaf and St. Catherine in Northfield, Minn.
