ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Four Minnesota State University Moorhead players scored in double figures as the Dragons held off a late rally to earn a 71-68 win over Wisconsin-Parkside during action on Friday at the Radisson Hotel Roseville Classic in St. Paul, Minn.

MSUM improved to 2-0 on the year with the nonconference win while Wisconsin-Parkside fell to 2-1.

Senior forward Morgan Zabel paced a balanced MSUM attack with 16 points and a team-high six rebounds, while sophomore guard Meghan Roehrich had a career-high 15 points in 24 minutes off the bench. Redshirt freshman Morgan Banasik had a career-high 13 points and a career-high five assists while senior forward Megan Strese collected 12 points and two steals.

The Dragons shot 48.9 percent (23-of-47) for the game while the Rangers shot 43.8 percent (25-of-57). MSUM outrebounded UWP 33-24.

MSUM led 40-32 at halftime and held a 53-48 lead with 12:10 left before scoring six straight points to take a 59-48 lead with 9:59 left. Banasik sparked that stretch with four points while freshman Natalie Van Wyhe had two.

The Rangers battled back over the final eight minutes and cut the lead to 69-68 with 41 seconds left. Zabel drained a pair of free throws with four seconds left to push the lead to 71-68, and a desperation three by UWP was well off the mark to give the Dragons a three-point win.

The first half was tied at 15-15 with 12:17 left before MSUM went on an 18-9 run over the next seven-plus minutes to stretch the lead to 33-24. Strese sparked the run with seven points while Roehrich had five and Banasik three. The Dragons took a 40-32 advantage into halftime.

MSUM faces No. 21-ranked Michigan Tech on Saturday at 3 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn., to wrap up the weekend. Fans can watch -- and listen to -- the game online by clicking here.

Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: Tonight's game vs. Wisconsin-Parkside was the first time the Dragon women played a team from Wisconsin, since blasting Northland Baptist 115-42 on December 6, 2003. The 115 points still remains the school record.
