MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead swimming and diving team will make its shortest road trip of the season – a few blocks – when it competes in a dual against crosstown rival Concordia College on Saturday night at 6 p.m. The dual will be held at Concordia's Memorial Auditorium Swimming Pool.
The Dragons are 4-4 in duals so far, including a perfect 3-0 at the Carleton College quad last weekend. Concordia, which will face Northern State on Friday night prior to facing MSUM, has not competed in a dual so far this season.
MSUM competed at two separate events last weekend in Northfield, Minn. At a Carleton College quad, MSUM beat St. Olaf, Carleton and St. Catherine's by comfortable margins to cap off a 3-0 day.
Senior
Shayna Dugger won the 1-meter diving with a score of 250.25, just missing the national qualifying mark of 255. Senior
Kelsey Jandro was second at 222.05. In the 3-meter diving, Jandro was victorious with a score of 232.80 with Dugger second at 223.45.
The Dragons' 200 medley relay was victorious with a season-best time of 1:50.77. That consisted of sophomore
Annika Bordak, freshman
Jackie Woods, senior
Megan Rieland and junior
Susie Kitzman. MSUM claimed the 200 free relay title with a season-best time of 1:39.82. That consisted of Kitzman, senior
Angelee Hale, junior
Taylor Miller and Rieland.
Woods finished with three individual wins at the day, claiming the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and tying for the win in the 100 IM. Kitzman won the 100 butterfly with a lifetime-best time of 1:00.62. Bordak won the 50 backstroke with a season-best time of 28.33 and added a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.89.
A day later at the College, Cows and Contentment Classic, MSUM was led by its 200 freestyle relay, which claimed the win with a time of 1:39.34. That consisted of Bordak, Kitzman, Miller and Rieland. It was the only relay team with three members with splits under 25 seconds. Kitzman swam a split of 24.74, Miller a lifetime-best split of 24.81 and Rieland a split of 23.93.
MSUM's 200 medley relay was fourth at 1:50.41. That consisted of Bordak, Woods, Rieland and Kitzman.
Woods capped off a good weekend with a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.99). Rieland's good season continued as she took fourth in the 50 free (25.35), seventh in the 100 free (55.54) and 10th in the 100 butterfly (1:02.07).
Kitzman was fourth in the 100 butterfly at 1:01.47 and sixth in the 100 freestyle at 55.27.
Bordak had a solid day for MSUM. She was fifth in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.88, fifth in the 100 freestyle (55.01) and seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:01.71).
