MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team plays its final game before Christmas when it plays at Northern State on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen, S.D.

MSUM enters the week at 6-3 overall and 2-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while the Wolves are 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the NSIC.
MSUM and Northern State will meet for a 67th time with the Wolves leading the series, 43-23. Northern State won the meeting on Nov. 30, topping the Dragons 96-88.

Morgan Banasik each scoring 20 points. A night later, Roehrich had 17 points as the Dragons dropped Minnesota Crookston, 77-60 for their second straight win.

Morgan Zabel leads the Dragons at 15.9 points per game. Senior forward Megan is averaging 12.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while Roehrich is averaging 14.3 points per game. Senior guard
Haley Thomforde is averaging 3.9 assists per game. Zabel leads with 12 steals while Thomforde has 10 blocks.
The Dragons are shooting 44.2 percent from the field, including 38.7 percent from three-point range. The Dragons outrebound their opponents 39.9-30.9. MSUM scores 77.2 points per game. The Dragons allow 69.1 points per game and are holding teams to 42.0 percent shooting from the field this season.
Karla Nelson is her 14th season as MSUM's head coach with a record of 230-151 at the school.
About Northern State
Northern State is 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the NSIC. The Wolves won a pair of games at home last weekend, beating Minnesota Crookston, 74-71 on Friday, thanks to 29 points from Alison Kusler, and then beating Bemidji State, 66-53 on Saturday with Kusler leading with 17 points.
Junior Rachel Krogman leads the Wolves at 16.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. Kusler is at 15.1 points per game while Megan Mutchler is at 13.9. Kusler also leads the Wolves in assists (28) and steals (15).
Northern State is averaging 72.4 points per game and is shooting 41.3 percent from the field. The Wolves are shooting only 27.6 percent from three-point range, however. The Wolves outrebound their foes 41.8-35.4 and are holding teams to 64.1 points per game. Teams are shooting 37.8 percent against Northern State.
Curt Fredrickson is in his 35th season as Northern State's head coach with a record of 727-273 at the school.
Climbing the Charts
A pair of Dragons are nearing 1,000 points for their collegiate careers. Megan is at 955 career points, just 45 away from the milestone, while Zabel is at 835 points, just 165 away. In addition, Thomforde is at 280 career assists, just six away from the top 10.
Roehrich's Rise
Sophomore guard
Meghan Roehrich is having a breakout season for the Dragons. She is second on the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game. Roehrich is ranked fifth in all of Division II in free-throw percentage (95.5), a mark that leads the NSIC. The Fargo, N.D., native is also 17th in the nation in field-goal percentage (50.0). She has scored in double figures in eight straight games, which is the longest streak on the team in the season.
Rankings
MSUM ranks in the top 25 in Division II in three categories. The Dragons are shooting 38.7 percent from three-point range, which is 18th-best in the country, and has a 76.5 percentage from the free-throw line, 22nd-best. MSUM also leads the NSIC with a +9.0 rebound margin, a mark that is ranked 23rd in the nation.\
