MOORHEAD, Minn. – A layup by senior
Tarell Clark put Minnesota State University Moorhead ahead by two in the final seconds, but Northern State's Skye Warwick drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to help the Wolves edge the Dragons, 70-69 win in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday in Aberdeen, S.D.
MSUM, which saw a nine-game winning streak end, fell to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the NSIC with its first loss of the year, while Northern State improved to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the league.

Urbane Bingham had a career-high 22 points for MSUM; he was 11-of-13 from the foul line. Freshman forward
Aaron Lien added 12 points off the bench while junior guard
Jordan Riewer added 10 points and three assists. Clark led the way with seven rebounds.
MSUM shot a season-low 38.3 percent (18-of-47) from the field in the loss, including just 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from three-point range. It is the first time MSUM has shot under 40 percent from the field this season. Northern State shot 44 percent (22-of-50), including 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from three-point range. The Wolves outrebounded MSUM 37-33.
The Dragons were down 67-65 with 1:56 left but a jumper by Bingham with 56 seconds left tied the game at 67-67. On the next possession, Warwick missed a three, and MSUM called a timeout with 23 seconds left to set up a play.
MSUM executed the play well as Clark made the layup with three seconds left. Northern called a timeout with two seconds left to set up a final play, and Warwick let go of the three-pointer just before the buzzer and made it to give the Wolves a thrilling one-point win.
The Dragons led much of the first half. They held a 25-20 advantage with four minutes left before scoring five straight points – three coming from Bingham and two from sophomore guard
Ngijol Songolo – to take their largest lead of the night at 30-20 with 1:42 left in the half. MSUM led 32-24 at the break.
Bingham and Songolo had seven points each in the first half for MSUM, which shot 40 percent (10-of-25) in the opening 20 minutes.
Northern State cut the lead to 34-33 with 15:32 left, but Lien drained a three-pointer to push the Dragon lead to 37-33. Lien hit a pair of free throws with with 14:13 left to push MSUM's lead to 43-36, but the Wolves scored six points in a row to cut the lead to 43-42 with 11:11 left. No team led by more than six points the rest of the way.
The Dragons are off until Jan. 3, 2014 when they play at the University of Sioux Falls.
Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: In the first 10 games of this season, last season and the season prior ('11-'12), the Dragons are 28-2. Their only other loss during this time frame was also at Northern St. when they suffered a 69-66 setback on Dec. 1, 2012.
