Dragon Women's Soccer to Square Off With Winona State and Upper Iowa in Road Contests

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team heads south this week in search of its first win of the 2013 campaign. The Dragons will play at Winona State for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday and then cap off the weekend at Upper Iowa for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.

The Dragons (0-7, 0-5 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) will meet Winona State for a 23rd time with the Warriors holding a 16-6 series advantage.  MSUM and Upper Iowa will meet for an eighth time, with the Peacocks holding a 5-2 lead in the series. The Dragons lost to Winona State, 5-1 a year ago and suffered a tough 3-2 double-overtime loss to Upper Iowa; both games were played in Moorhead, Minn.

Injuries have hit the Dragons hard this season as seven players missed time last weekend during MSUM's losses to No. 6-ranked Minnesota State (5-0) and Concordia-St. Paul.

Junior Stephanie Lindo leads the Dragon offense with one goal, one assist and three points. Sophomore Cara Zastrow has a goal and two points, while freshman Jessica Johnson has an assist. Johnson leads the Dragons with 19 shots, including 10 on goal. Sophomore Ashley Leintz has 40 saves in four starts in goal for MSUM; she has a 1.14 goals allowed average so far. Senior Carole Braschayko has 22 saves in two starts for MSUM.  Rollie Bulock is in his 16th year as MSUM's head coach with a record of 91-159-114.

About Winona State
The Warriors are 4-2-2 overall and 3-2 in the NSIC. Winona State won a pair of NSIC games on the road last weekend, beating Minot State, 2-1 and Mary, 3-0. Kati Baker and Samantha Fegen lead Winona State with two goals and four points each. Eight different Warrior players have scored goals this season. Meg Riebau leads Winona State with two assists. Alexandra Vial is 4-2-2 in goal with a 0.67 goals against average. She has 44 saves. Ali Omar is in his 18th season as Winona State's head coach with a record of 261-86-22 at the school.

About Upper Iowa
Upper Iowa is 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the NSIC. The  Peacocks won a pair of NSIC road games in overtime last weekend, beating Minot and Mary by identical 1-0 scores. Aimee Wronski is having an outstanding season for Upper Iowa with seven goals, second-best in the NSIC, and 15 total points.  Corinne Wronski and Madie Edwards share the team lead with two assists each. In goal, Kaitlyn Emanuel is 6-2 in goal with 46 saves; she has a 1.00 goals allowed average.  Brian Diaz is in his first season as Upper Iowa's head coach with a record of 6-2 at the school.
