The win was the Dragon's tenth on the season. MSUM's record is now 10-12 on the season and 5-9 in the NSIC. SCSU is now 7-15 and 1-13 in the N.SIC.

Senior Maggie Gruber led the Dragons with 15 kills while senior Sam Sullivan had 25 assists. Junior Amber Krenske contributed 19 digs while junior Kaitlin VanWinkle had four total blocks.

The first set was closely contested with the Huskies grabbing a 10-9 lead on a kill from Macy Weller. After that Huskie lead, the Dragons scored three straight points, partly thanks to two VanWinkle kills to lead 12-10. The Dragons utilized three more stretches of three consecutive points in the set to open a 22-16 lead and took the set 25-20 after a kill from freshman Claire Grimm.

The Huskies grabbed a 4-1 lead in the second set, but the Dragons fought back with four straight points of their own to snag a 5-4 lead. The Dragons largest lead of the set occurred at 16-10 after an attack error from SCSU. Gruber put away the last kill to give MSUM the set 25-20.

The Dragons would have to come behind in the final set, falling behind 15-10 after a kill from Kaitlin Doughty. The Dragons came back and took a lead at 18-17 after another Gruber kill. The Dragons were up at match-point 24-23 when both teams traded points back-and-forth until Gruber put away the last two kills to give the Dragons the set 30-28.

MSUM is back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. when it takes on Minnesota Duluth at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.
