Aaron Lien scored 26 points to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team to an 81-58 win over Valley City State in exhibition action Thursday night at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.

Chad Walthall, shot 46.4 percent (26-of-56) from the field while holding Valley City State to 39.6 percent shooting (19-of-48). MSUM forced 19 turnovers and had a 29-10 edge in points off of turnovers.
MSUM had a big advantage at the free-throw line, hitting 24-of-30 attempts (80 percent), compared to 14-of-16 for the Vikings. The Dragons outrebounded the Vikings 39-25, including 15-7 on the offensive glass.
Lien finished 8-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range, and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the foul line. Junior
Isaac Sevlie had 16 points for the Dragons, while senior guard
Prescott Williams had nine points, nine rebounds and four steals. Senior guard
Jordan Riewer had eight points, nine rebounds and a game-high five assists.
MSUM led 23-17 halfway through the first half but ended the opening 20 minutes on a 17-6 run to take a 40-23 lead into halftime. Lien led the way with seven points during that stretch while junior
Ngijol Songolo added four.
Valley City State cut the lead to 48-37 six minutes into the second half, but the Dragons pulled away with 12 straight points to build a 60-37 lead. Lien was the catalyst for that run as well with eight points.
The Dragons open the 2014-15 regular season at the Northwest Missouri Classic on Nov. 14 against the host team, Northwest Missouri State.
