MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team won nine events of the 11 events scored on its way to a 134-60 win over Concordia College in a dual meet held Saturday night at the Nemzek Pool in Moorhead, Minn.

A highlight of the night for MSUM (2-1 duals) was the performance of its divers. Because Concordia did not intend to compete in the 3-meter diving, two 1-meter diving events were held. This format allows divers to take the six-dive score from the first event and the five-dive score from the second event and add them together to get an 11-dive score.

Junior Emily Pascavis's combined total of 409.55 – which was the best of the meet -- put her well over the required 390 to qualify her for the national pre-qualifying meet.   Junior Jana Hedstrom and sophomore Amanda Groebner tied with 350.90 on 11 dives and Johanna Weber had 337.35.  Groebner, Pascavis and Weber's scores were lifetime-bests.

Sophomore Ashley Higgins continued her streak of recording lifetime bests. She won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.75, and swam personal bests in the 50 fly split on the medley relay (27.53), the 50 fly (27.83) and a 25.77 lead-off 50 free on the 200 free relay.
Junior VIviane Nagasaki won the 100 backstroke with a lifetime best of 1:03.72 and also had a lifetime-best of 29.02 in the 50 back.

Freshman Hailey Dempsey won the 200 free at 2:06.05 with redshirt freshman Laura Mitlyng second at 2:09.42. Sophomore Maris Jahner won the 50 free at 26.60 with sophomore Taylor Brown second at 27.26.

Senior Megan Sanford won the 200 IM at 2:24.49 with senior Brooke Johnson second at 2:30.72. Sophomore Danae Scheef won the 500 free at 5:42.16 with freshman Molly O'Brien second at 5:42.71 in a very close race.

The Dragons also won both relays. MSUM's 200 free relay was victorious at 1:44.27. That consisted of Higgins, sophomore Claire Sauerman, Jahner and freshman Jessica Colby. MSUM's 200 medley relay was victorious with a time of 1:57.26. That consisted of Nagasaki, Sauerman, Dempsey and Brown.

Senior Taylor Miller was second in the 100 free at 58.73.

MSUM will look for its second straight dual win on Friday, Nov. 14 at home against the College of St. Benedict.
