MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Senior Connor MacGregor and junior Conner Monk both earned wins, but the Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team fell short against Augustana on Wednesday, dropping a 25-16 dual to the Vikings at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.

MSUM fell to 6-9 overall and 3-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with the loss, while Augustana, which has been ranked in the top 20 for much of the season, improved to 12-5 overall and 5-2 in the league.

In addition to wins from MacGregor (141 pounds) and Monk (174), junior Gerad Fugleberg won by forfeit at 285 for the Dragons.

MacGregor is now 9-11 on the year and has won four matches in a row while Monk evened his record at 10-10.

"Connor MacGregor and Conner Monk have been consistent and doing a great job," MSUM head coach Kris Nelson said. "They've been coming through in duals and hopefully that continues into the regional tournament."

The 125-pound match was competitive, where Dragon freshman Blake Bosch battled tough against Augie's TJ North, who is ranked No. 3 in the country.  North earned a 3-0 win to give the Vikings an early lead.

Augustana also won by decision at 133 to build the lead to 6-0. MacGregor then tied the match at 6-6 for MSUM with a win by fall in 2:40 over Augustana's Jeremiah Peterson.

The Vikings won by fall at 149, and added a win by decision at 157 and at major decision at 165 to push their lead to 19-6.

Monk stopped Augustana's momentum with an impressive 11-2 major decision win over Drake Fanslau at 174, bringing the Dragons within 19-10.

The Vikings won at 184 and 197 by decision to make it 25-10. Fugleberg won by forfeit at 285 to bring MSUM within 25-16 which was the final.

MSUM will host Mary at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Nemzek Fieldhouse. It will be Senior Day for MSUM with MacGregor and Matt Lewellen being honored that day.
