MOORHEAD, Minn. – A victory by sophomore Erin Sullivan in the 100 backstroke led the way for the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team at its home quadrangular on Saturday at the Nemzek Pool in Moorhead, Minn. MSUM finished 1-2 on the day in duals to cap off the weekend.

MSUM earned a 232-46 win over Northern State while losing to Northern Michigan (200-100) and St. Cloud State (213-87). After winning eight of 16 events against St. Cloud and six of 16 events against Northern Michigan on Friday evening, the Dragons managed one win against each team with Sullivan's win in the 100 back.

"The dual meet format on Friday played more toward our team strengths and we really put everything into that meet," MSUM head coach Todd Peters said. "We moved swimmers around today and tried a couple of different events and we always came up a little bit short against the other teams.  Overall, we had so many great performances this weekend."

Sullivan, who won two events during Friday's dual competition, won the 100 back in 59.14, which narrowly missed the pool record of 58.69.  She added a fourth-place finish in the 50 free in 25.61.

Senior Jackie Woods was third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.10 with junior Shae Bodrero fifth in 1:10.78 and freshman Erin Fons sixth in 1:10.78. Woods was also third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:34.12.

Freshman Taylor Beynon was third in the 1,650 free in 18:39.54. Beynon tied teammate Kelly Engbring for fifth in the 500 free at 5:34.18 and added a fifth in the 200 IM (2:18.73).

Junior Ashley Higgins was third in the 50 free in 25.43, narrowly missing her lifetime best. She was seventh in the 100 free in 55.98, also close to a lifetime best.

Senior Emily Pascavis was fourth in the 1-meter diving with a score of 221.10. Senior Jana Hedstrom was sixth in 209.70. Hedstrom was fourth in the 3-meter diving (200.60) with Pascavis fifth at 197.20.

Freshman Sami Duval was fourth in the 200 butterfly in 2:19.23. Junior Madison Kuznia was fifth in the 200 back in 2:14.14. Senior Annika Bordak was fifth in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.06 with freshman Natalie Kampa sixth in 1:02.16. Junior Amber Helgoe was sixth in the 100 free in 55.58.

MSUM's 'A' 200 medley relay placed third in 1:50.96. That consisted of Sullivan, Woods, Kampa and Bordak. MSUM's 'A' 200 free relay, consisting of Higgins, Bordak, Woods and Helgoe, was third in 1:42.01.

MSUM is off until Oct. 23 when it competes at Northern State. The dual, which will not include diving (Northern State does not have divers), begins at 5:30 p.m. in Aberdeen, S.D.
