MOORHEAD, Minn. – The No. 4-ranked Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team broke a single-game school scoring record in a 126-47 rout of Crossroads College (Minn.) on Sunday at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.
The previous single-game school record of 118 points was set in 1957 in a matchup against Michigan Tech.
MSUM, which had eight players reach double figures, improved to 14-1 on the year while Crossroads is 4-10.
Ayob and Vaughan each added nine rebounds while Kretchman added seven assists.
The Dragons shot 64.2 percent from the field and 48.1 percent from three-point range compared to 23.9 percent from the floor for the Knights. The Dragons grabbed 58 rebounds while the Knights had 31. MSUM had 65 points from its bench while CC had just 21.
A three-pointer from Holt gave the Dragons a 41-13 point lead with 6:56 left in the first half. MSUM took a 40-point lead into the half, 61-21, on a jumper from Lien.
The second half was sparked from a couple of monster dunks from Holt and back-to-back threes from Ayob.
The next match for the Dragons is Jan. 2 when they will travel to Upper Iowa to kick off conference play in the new year.
Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: Today was the Dragons' 14th consecutive win which is now the second longest winning streak in school history. The record is 15 set by 1970-1971 squad that finished 24-2.
