The Dragons open at opponent the University of Jamestown at 5 p. m. on Sept. 4 followed by a game at home against Spring Hill College at the MSUM Soccer Field at 2 p. m. on Sept. 6.
The Dragons went 3-14-0 overall, and 2-13-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in the 2014 season. Eight starters and 20 letterwinners return from that squad.
MSUM returns experience in senior goalkeeper
Ashley Leintz, who started all 17 games in 2014. Leintz led the NSIC in both saves per game at 9.06 and total saves. She also finished ninth in the conference in save percentage with .802 (154 saves).
Also returning to the Dragon lineup is junior midfielder
Jessica Johnson. Johnson led the team in goals with two and in points with four. She finished second on the team with 22 shots including eight shots on goal. Junior defender and 2014 team defensive MVP,
Gabrielle Bjorge comes into the 2015 after posting one assist and one point last season.
The Dragons also add eight freshmen from seven different states to the roster this year. Â
As a team, in 2014 the Dragons posted nine goals, five assists, and 23 points. They had 69 shots on goal with a percentage of .451. MSUM averaged 9.0 shots/game.
Head coach
Rollie Bulock returns for his 17th season with MSUM. This season marks the 20th anniversary for Dragon women's soccer.
About the JimmiesThe Jamestown Jimmies are coming off a 7-8-3 overall record and went 1-0-0 in the conference. They amassed 23 goals and 12 assists for 58 points in 2014. The Jimmies had 82 shots on goal for a percentage of .131. They return sophomore forward Emma Marquardsen who had one goal and two points last season along with sophomore midfielder Briana De Stefano after she led the team with three goals and six points last season. Nick Becker is in his fourth season as the Jamestown coach with a record of 25-29-16 at the school.
About the BadgersThe Badgers of Spring Hill College went 4-9-3 overall and 1-8-3 in their conference last season. They averaged 1.38 goals per game and ended the season with a shot percentage of 0.097. The Badgers had 22 goals and 17 assists in 2014. Senior forward Sidi Genus returns to the Badger lineup after scoring one goal and four points last season. Francesca Talotta (sophomore, forward), had an impressive 2014 season with two goals, one assist, and five points at a shot percentage of 0.087. Lisa Mann is in her first season as Spring Hill's head coach.
