MSUM Wrestlers to Take on Rival Cobbers on Wednesday

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team will travel across town on Wednesday night to take on the cross town rival Concordia Cobbers. The dual will start at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Auditorium on Concordia's campus.

The Dragons will also compete at the Finn Grinaker Open on Saturday at Concordia. Senior Blake Bosch and sophomore Adam Blees each are scheduled to compete at the Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open on Saturday.

About the Dragons
The Dragons opened their season on Saturday at the Bison Open, where senior Blake Bosch, competing unattached, won the title at 133 pounds. Sophomore Adam Blees took third at the 174-pound weight class, while senior Nader Abdullatif took fourth at 285 pounds. Freshman Austin Skillings took home a fourth-place finish at 157 pounds.

The Dragons also got a handful of fifth-place finishes, including freshman Aaron Sistrunk at 133 pounds, sophomore Kristian Vazquez at 141, senior Isaac Novacek at 157, sophomore Austin May at 184, and freshman Jaxon Seufzer at 197 pounds.

This will be the first dual meet of the season for the Dragons, who racked up an 8-7 record last season, including a 15-16 loss to the Cobbers last November. They are led by Bosch, who is a two-time All-American at 133 pounds.

MSUM's home opener is Nov. 22 against Northland Community and Technical College.

About the Cobbers
The Cobbers have competed at two tournaments this season, with the first one being the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointer Open, where junior Jakob Stageberg finished second to lead the Cobbers. Overall, they had five athletes finish in the top three in their respective weight class, including Jake Johnson, who finished second at 174-pounds.
Their second tournament of the season was the Dakota Wesleyan Open, where Sophomore Nick Gravdahl finished third at 157 pounds, while junior Aaron Dick took home a third place finish at 133 pounds.

Head coach Phil Moenkedick is in his first season as head coach. He was named over the summer after Phil Nagel took a coaching job at North Dakota State.
