MSUM is now 10-1 overall and 7-0 in the NSIC; the Dragons remain alone in first in the league and are the only team in the league without a conference loss.  Minnesota State fell to 7-3 overall and 3-3 in the league.

The Dragons shot 40.8 percent (20-of-49) while holding the Mavericks to 31.7 percent (19-of-60). MSUM had a 39-34 edge in rebounds.

The 10-game winning streak is the longest for MSUM since the Dragons started out 11-0 in 2008-09.

How It Happened…
The Dragons used another solid defensive effort to record their 10th straight victory, holding the Mavericks to a season-worst 31.7 percent shooting effort from the field.

MSUM led 29-24 at halftime thanks to eight points from junior forward Drew Sannes. Sophomore guard Jacky Volkert had seven.

Mankato cut the gap to 31-30 early in the third quarter but a key 13-2 Dragon run pushed the MSUM advantage to 44-32.  Several players contributed to that run with freshman forward Megan Hintz recording four points while Volkert, junior guard Cassidy Thorson and senior guard Natalie Van Wyhe each had three. Volkert converted a three-point play while Thorson and Van Wyhe each buried threes.

The Mavericks cut the lead to 56-49 with 3:11 left but got no closer as MSUM's free-throw shooting sealed the win. The Dragons were 10-of-12 from the line in the final 2:25 and finished 21-of-24 from the charity stripe.

Impact Performances…
Volkert scored a season-high 17 points and hit 6-of-6 free throws.

Sannes had a strong all-around game with 14 points, 11 rebounds, seven blocks and three steals.

Thorson and Hintz each had 10 points.  Hintz had six rebounds while Volkert had five. Van Wyhe had six points and two assists.
