CROOKSTON, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team ran its winning streak to seven games with an 87-60 rout of Minnesota Crookston in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Friday night in Crookston, Minn.
MSUM is now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the NSIC with the win while Minnesota Crookston fell to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the league.
How it Happened…
The tone was set in the first quarter. MSUM jumped out to a 23-5 lead over the first 9:40 and took a 25-8 lead into the second quarter.

Jacky Volkert combined to go 6-of-6 from the field as each scored seven points for the Dragons. Junior forward
Drew Sannes had five points.
The Dragons led 44-24 at halftime. The Golden Eagles cut the lead to 46-33 with 6:54 left in the third quarter but the Dragons outscored UMC 16-8 to close out the quarter to build a 62-41 lead.
MSUM's lead grew to as many as 31 on its way to the road win. Eleven of the 13 Dragon players who saw playing time scored points.

Thorson tied a career-high with 21 points, while Volkert added 13 in a balanced Dragon attack.

Dierra Diegel added six points each off the bench. MSUM's bench outscored UMC 35-18.
Volkert had four assists while Van Wyhe, Sannes and Thorson had three each. Van Wyhe had three steals while Sannes led with seven rebounds. Volkert and Hintz had five rebounds each.

Tonight's 27-point win was the largest win over Minnesota Crookston since the Dragons' 90-45 home win on Feb. 3, 2007.
