WAYNE, Neb. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team dropped a pair of conference games on Sunday, falling to Wayne State 1-0 and 7-1 in Wayne, Neb., to cap off the weekend.
MSUM was held to eight hits in the doubleheader by Wayne State pitchers.
"We played pretty solid for 12 innings today," MSUM head coach
Kelsey Fehl said. "Offensively we just have to be more productive to give ourselves more scoring chances, and when we get those opportunities we need to take advantage of them."
In the first game, senior pitcher
Morgan Nybo threw well in defeat. She allowed five hits and one earned run in six innings, walking two while striking out six.
Junior designated hitter
Kristina Villalobos was 1-for-2 for MSUM, while senior left fielder

With the game tied at 0-0, the Dragons had the go-ahead run at the plate in the top of the fifth but were unable to get a run home. Wayne State scored in the bottom of the fifth to take a 1-0 lead.
The Dragons had the tying run at second in the sixth after Williamson singled with one out and stole second. But a pair of strikeouts ended the threat. In the seventh, Bruni led off with a single but was doubled up on a bunt that was caught at first.
In the second game, the Dragons finished with five hits. Freshman shortstop
