MOORHEAD, Minn. — Sophomore

Nader Abdullatif recorded falls, but the Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team fell short to No. 23 Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday, dropping a 22-18 dual to the Mavericks at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.

MSUM fell to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while Minnesota State improved to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the league.
The Mavericks won six of the 10 matches, including one by fall and one by major decision. The Dragons finished with four wins on the day with Connell (149) and Abdullatif (285) earning pins.
The Dragons were able to build a lead after five matches, thanks to three wins. MSU won at 125 to take a 3-0 lead but senior
Blake Bosch answered for the Dragons with an 11-7 win over Paul Selman at 133 to tie the match at 3-3. Bosch is now an impressive 20-1 on the season and has not lost since November at the Holiday Inn Classic in Kearney, Neb.
MSU won by major decision at 141 to regain the lead at 7-3, but Connell delivered with a strong performance, pinning Tanner Mills in 1:40 to give the Dragons a 9-7 lead. Connell is now 12-10 on the year.
Senior
Isaac Novacek also improved to 12-10 on the season with a 6-4 win over MSU's Logan Saltou at 157 to push the Dragon lead to 12-6.
The Mavericks won the next four matches, including a pin at 165, to surge into a 22-12 lead. A close match took place at 174 as MSU's Adam Cooling, who is ranked third in the nation in that weight class, topped Dragon sophomore
Adam Blees in a tight 3-1 contest.
Abdullatif improved to 14-7 on the season with a pin of MSU's Chris Zimmer in 3:52 at 285. Abdullatif finished the week 2-0.
The Dragons will compete at No. 1-ranked St. Cloud State on Thursday night in St. Cloud, Minn.
