MINOT, N.D. – A 19-0 run in the second half proved decisive as the No. 24 Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team won its 12th straight game with a 66-52 win over Minot State Friday night in Minot, N.D.
MSUM is now 12-1 overall and 9-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with the win while Minot State fell to 3-12 overall and 1-8 in the league.
The Dragons shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) for the game while holding Minot State to 36.4 percent (16-of-44). MSUM had a 35-31 edge in rebounds.
How It Happened…
The 19-0 Dragon run followed an 18-0 Minot State run that began in the final minute of the first half. That stretch propelled the Beavers into a 45-35 lead with 7:46 left in the third.
The Beavers would not score another point in the quarter as the Dragons scored the final 15 to take a 50-45 lead into the final quarter. MSUM scored the first four points of the fourth quarter to cap off the decisive 19-0 run.

Jacky Volkert had six points each during the run while freshman forward
Megan Hintz had four.
From there, MSUM pushed the lead to as many as 15 points on its way to the double-digit win. Over the final 17 minutes of the game, MSUM's defense held the Beavers to seven points.
MSUM's bench outscored Minot State 28-0. The Dragons had a 32-8 edge in points in the paint and a 25-12 edge in points off of turnovers.
Impact Performances…
Thorson had a game-high 16 points for MSUM on 6-of-9 shooting. She had three rebounds and three assists.
Sannes had 13 points, three blocks and seven rebounds while junior forward
Shannon Galegher had a career-high 10 points to go with four rebounds. She was 4-of-6 from the field.
Senior guard
Natalie Van Wyhe had three points but added six rebounds and a game-high seven assists.
Sophomore guard
Jacky Volkert and freshman forward
Megan Hintz had six points each while senior guard
Jessica Hart had five points.

Tonight was the first time that the Dragons trailed at the end of the first quarter (18-14) in an NSIC game since trailing 15-11 at home to the University of Minnesota Crookston on Feb. 20, 2016.
