Dragon Women's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision to Mary in Home Finale

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Despite a goal from junior forward Annika Greaney, the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team came up short against the University of Mary on Friday, dropping a 2-1 contest to the Marauders on a cold afternoon in Moorhead, Minn.

It was Senior Day for the Dragons and three seniors were honored prior to the game: goalkeepers Corina Edgington, Reagan VonBerge and forward Jenai DeNardo.

The Marauders scored two goals in the first 35:13 to take a 2-0 lead. Greaney got the Dragons on the board at the 36:34 mark with her first goal of the season. She was assisted by sophomore Rachel Jenson.

The Dragons were unable to get the tying goal past Mary's Hannah Smith and fell by one goal.

Both senior goalkeepers split the action. Edgington had one save in the first 45 minutes while VonBerge had five saves.

"It was a good performance to send our seniors out with," MSUM head coach Christie Kopietz said. "THANK YOU Jenai, Cori and Reagan for everything. You will be missed."

MSUM closes the 2017 season on Sunday at Minot State. Game time is 1 p.m. in Minot, N.D.
