TAMPA, Fla. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team ran its winning streak to three games with a 92-46 rout of Nyack College in nonconference action Saturday in Tampa, Fla.
MSUM is now 3-1 on the season while Nyack is 0-6.
Eleven of the 12 Dragons who played scored, led by senior forward
Drew Sannes with 18 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard
Cassidy Thorson had 15 points while junior guard
Jacky Volkert had 13 points. Freshman guard
Lauren Fech had a game-high six assists while Sannes had four blocks. Senior forward
Shannon Galegher had seven rebounds.
MSUM shot 50.8 percent (31-of-61) for the game while holding Nyack to 19.1 percent (13-of-68). The Dragons had a 54-38 edge in rebounds.
The Dragons jumped out to a 22-9 lead after one quarter, thanks to nine points from Thorson. The lead grew to 39-19 at halftime with Thorson and Sannes accounting for nine points apiece in the first half.
The Dragons put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Nyack 27-13 to build a commanding 66-32 lead.
