The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this week with a pair of road games. MSUM will face U-Mary at 6 p.m. on Friday in Bismarck, N.D., and then face Minot State at 4 p.m. on Saturday to close out the weekend.

MSUM is 3-1 on the season, all games being nonconference contests.

MSUM will meet Mary for a 40th time and leads the all-time series 26-13. The Dragons have won four straight meetings.  MSUM and Minot State will meet for a 26th time with the Dragons holding a 20-5 advantage all-time in the series.  The Dragons have won six meetings in a row.

The Dragons went 2-0 on their trip to Florida, beating Anderson (S.C.), 71-65 and Nyack College 92-46. MSUM has won three in a row heading into NSIC play.

MSUM is led by senior forward Drew Sannes who averages 14.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Junior guard Jacky Volkert averages 12.8 points and 4.1 assists per game while sophomore forward Megan Hintz averages 11.5 points per game. Senior guard Cassidy Thorson averages 10.8 points per game and is second on the team at 5.0 rebounds per game. Sannes leads with seven blocks while Volkert leads with six steals.

MSUM scores 72.5 points per game and shoots 40.8 percent from the field.  The Dragons allow 60.0 points per game and outrebound their foes 43.8-34.2.

Karla Nelson is in her 18th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 305-183.

About U-Mary
The Marauders are 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC. The Marauders lost to Minot State, 72-62 to open NSIC play but defeated Yellowstone Christian, 53-32 in a nonconference game on Tuesday.

Gabby Bohl leads Mary at 17.8 points per game while Cassie Askvig averages 13.8. Dani Williams averages 13.0 points per game while Lauren Rotunda averages 11.3. Rotunda leads U-Mary at 2.0 steals and 3.7 assists per game while Askvig averages 9.5 rebounds per game. As a team the Marauders score 69.3 points per game and shoot 41.9 percent from the field.

On defense the Marauders allow 56.1 points pr game and out rebound their foes 42.1-35.1.

Rick Neumann is in sixth season as the U-Mary head coach with a record of 80-75 at the school.

About Minot State
Minot State is 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NSIC. The Beavers defeated U-Mary, 72-62 on Nov. 25 to open up the conference season.

Holly Johnson leads Minot State at 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Kristal Flowers is at 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game while Madison Wald averages 12.6 points per game. Diondra Denton averages 10.3 points per game. Kari Clements leads at 3.2 assists per game.
 
The Beavers score 75.4 points per game and shoot 40.7 percent from the field. On defense they allow 52.6 points per game and outrebound their foes 50.0-32.6.

Mark Graupe is in his first season as Minot State's head coach.
