Dragon Women Hit School Record 16 Threes in 85-64 Rout of Minot State

MINOT, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team set a new single game record for three-pointers made in an 85-64 win over Minot State on Saturday in Minot, N.D.

MSUM has won five in a row and is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference whlle Minot State fell to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the league. The Dragons have beaten Minot State seven straight times.

The Dragons hit 16 three-pointers, breaking the previous single-game record of 15 set against Bemidji State on Jan. 24, 2015. The Dragons finished a blistering 16-of-29 (55.2 percent) from three-point range compared to 23.5 percent (4-of-17) for Minot State.  Overall MSUM shot 46.2 percent (30-of-65) for the game.

Freshman guard Kiley Borowicz set career-highs with 23 points and six 3-pointers made.  Senior guard Cassidy Thorson had 18 points on 6-of-12 three-point shooting. Freshman guard Lauren Fech had a career-high 14 points to go along with four assists. Senior forward Drew Sannes had nine points and six rebounds while junior guard Jacky Volkert had seven points and six assists.

MSUM led 41-33 at halftime thanks to 11 first-half points from Fech and nine each from Borowicz and Thorson.

Minot State cut the lead to six with 8:25 left in the third, but the Dragons outscored the Beavers 23-11 to close out the quarter to take a commanding 68-48 lead into the final quarter.  Borowicz was the catalyst for MSUM with 11 points, going 4-of-4 from the field and 3-of-3 from three-point range.

The Dragons pushed the lead to 27 in the fourth on their way to the 21-point win.

MSUM hosts Minnesota Crookston at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8.
