MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team dropped a 35-9 nonconference dual to nationally-ranked Augsburg in action Thursday in Minneapolis.
Augsburg (5-1) is ranked No. 2 in the nation in Division III. The Dragons are now 1-2 overall.
The dual started at 197 pounds, where
Preston Lehmann dropped a 5-3 decision for MSUM to Sebastian Larson. The Dragons picked up their first win of the night at heavyweight where redshirt freshman
Jordan Magnuson won a 3-2 decision over Augsburg's Tim Mandyck. Freshman
Cole Jones lost an 8-0 major decision at 125 pounds, which was followed by redshirt freshman
Seth Hutchison losing via fall at 133.
Senior
Tommy Walton picked up a win for MSUM at 141 pounds, where he pinned Charlie DesMarais in 3:54.
Augsburg would go on to win the final five matches, with four of them being bonus point wins.
The Dragons will next be in action on Dec. 16 when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., for the Midwest Classic.
