Dragon Wrestlers Host Augustana on Saturday

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team (1-4, 0-2) will return to Alex Nemzek Hall on Saturday to host the Augustana Vikings in the first of three straight home matches.  The dual begins at 3 p.m. at Nemzek Fieldhouse.

The Dragons are coming off a weekend that saw them lose two matches to nationally ranked teams. Zach Scott was one of the top performers for MSUM, going 2-0 on the weekend, including a win over Minnesota State Mankato's Louie Sanders via fall. The other Dragon to pick up a win against Mankato was Jordan Magnuson, who won a 3-1 overtime decision over Chris Zimmer at 285.

The Dragons are led by junior Adam Blees, who has a 12-6 record on the season at 174. Freshman Cole Jones is 12-10 on the season at 125, while junior Zach Scott improved to 10-11 with two wins last weekend at 141. Redshirt freshman Jordan Magnuson brings a 11-6 record into the match, while junior Weston Dobler enters with a 9-10 record.

About Augustana
The Vikings enter the weekend with a 6-2 overall record, and a 1-0 record in the NSIC after defeating Northern State 36-6. Prior to facing MSUM, they will face Southwest Minnesota State. The Vikings are led by Oscar Ramirez Jr., who has a 12-8 record entering the weekend. Bruce Lemon Jr. enters with a 12-5 record, while Lance Lettau has a 10-9 record. Regan Bye is 11-9on the season, while Brandon Carroll is 7-5 so far on the season.

Augustana is led by head coach Jason Reitmeier, who is in his 15th season as head coach.

Next Up
After the dual, the Dragons will host the University of Mary on Jan. 28 before hosting St. Cloud State on Feb. 1. They will next be on the road on Nov. 3 when they travel to Aberdeen, S.D. to face Northern State.

They will wrap up the regular season with two home duals against Southwest Minnesota State (Feb. 10), and Minot State (Feb. 15). The Super Region 3 tournament is being hosted by St. Cloud State, while the NCAA Division II Championships will be in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
