MOORHEAD – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team lost to the Augustana Vikings 30-12 on Saturday afternoon at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse. The Dragons recorded three wins on the afternoon, including a first period pin from sophomore
Preston Lehmann at 197 pounds.
MSUM is now 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the NSIC while Augustana is 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the league.
The dual started at 125 pounds, where MSUM's
Cole Jones won a 6-2 decision over Ethan Cota. Augustana picked up their first win at 133 pounds where Brayden Curry won an 8-3 decision over
Seth Hutchison.
The Dragons got another win at 141 pounds thanks to an 8-4 win for junior
Zach Scott.
Augustana then won five matches in a row — including three by fall — to build a commanding 27-6 lead.
The Dragons rebounded at 197 pounds when Lehmann won a first period fall over Clayton Wahlstrom. Augustana won in overtime at 285 to wrap up the match.
The Dragons will next be in action on Jan. 28 when they host the University of Mary Marauders.
