The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team takes an 11-game winning streak on the road this weekend. The Dragons will play at Winona State at 6 p.m. on Friday and then follow with a game at Upper Iowa at 4 p.m. on Sunday in Fayette, Iowa. The Dragons are receiving votes in the latest WBCA D2 Coaches Poll.
MSUM will meet Winona State for 76th time and leads the all-time series 46-29, including a key overtime win on their way to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference title in 2016-17. The Dragons have never lost to Upper Iowa, leading the all-time series 20-0.
The Dragons (17-3, 14-2 NSIC) ran their winning streak to 11 games with home wins over Southwest Minnesota State (66-51) and Sioux Falls (69-58).
Drew Sannes averaged a double-double for the week and was named the NSIC North Player of the Week after her performances.
Junior guard
Jacky Volkert leads MSUM at 13.8 points and 5.8 assists per game. She also has a team-best 21 steals. Sannes averages 13.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, while sophomore forward
Megan Hintz is averaging 11.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Senior guard
Cassidy Thorson is averaging 10.8 points per game and leads with 55 three-pointers.
As a team MSUM scores 72.2 points per game and shoots 42.2 percent from the field.
On defense MSUM allows 60.5 points per game. MSUM outrebounds its foes 43.0-34.7.
Karla Nelson is in her 18th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 319-185.
About Winona State
The Warriors are 13-7 overall and 9-7 in the NSIC. They have lost six in a row, including double-digit losses at Minot State and Mary last weekend.
Hannah McGlone leads Winona at 14.0 points,10.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Allie Pickrain averages 12.2 points per game. Liz Evenocheck is averaging 9.1 points per game.
Winona State scores 65.2 points per game and shoots 43 percent from the field. The Warriors outrebound their foes 35.3-33.7 and allow 59.7 points per game.
Scott Ballard is in his 14th season as Winona State's head coach with a record of 245-158 at the school.
About Upper Iowa
The Peacocks, who face Northern State prior to facing MSUM, are 2-20 overall and 0-16 in the NSIC. They have lost 18 in a row, including double-digit losses at Minot State and Mary last weekend.
Blair Klostermann is the lone Peacock averaging in double figures at 12.3 points per game. She has missed eight games, however. Natalie Dinius averages 9.7 points per game. Ashley Rosenstiel averages 1.6 assists per game while Haley Martin averages 5.7 rebounds per contest.
Upper Iowa averages 53.0 points per game and shoots 32 percent from the field. The Peacocks allow 72.7 points per game and are being outrebounded 38.6-34.7.
Micha Thompson is in her second season as the Upper Iowa head coach with a record of 6-43 at the school.

New Heights for Hintz
Sophomore
Megan Hintz is making the most of her chances with the ball. She leads the NSIC in field-goal percentage at 59.3 percent. The Rochester, Minn., native scored a career-high 21 points in the win over USF on Saturday. Hintz has scored in double figures 13 times this season and has four double-doubles this season.
In a Sharing Mood
Junior guard
Jacky Volkert leads the NSIC at 5.8 assists per game, a total that is ranked 13th in the nation this season. Volkert is 14th in assist-to-turnover ratio. The Arden Hills, Minn., native is now ninth in school history with 312 career assists. The all-time leader at MSUM is Krista Opheim who has 488.
Sannes Sets Record, Climbs Scoring List
Senior forward
Drew Sannes surpassed 1,000 career points earlier this season, and on Saturday in the 69-58 win over Sioux Falls, became MSUM's career leader in blocked shots. Sannes now has 211 blocked shots, which is one ahead of the previous record holder, Jessica Fesenmaier. Sannes is at 1,158 career points and is just 42 away from becoming just the 12th Dragon to surpass 1,200 points for her career.
Thorson Sets Three-Point Record, Closes in on 1,000
Senior guard
Cassidy Thorson is the new three-point career record holder for Dragon women's basketball. She hit seven 3-pointers in the 86-84 overtime win over Wayne State on Jan. 13 to set the record. Thorson now has 208 three-pointers and is the only Dragon women's player ever to surpass 200 threes in her career. She currently sits at 959 points, just 41 away from 1,000 for her career.
No Place Like Home
MSUM finished 12-1 at home in 2016-17, with the only loss coming to Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 20. Since the beginning of the 2014-15 season, MSUM is 42-8 (.840) at Nemzek Hall. In
Karla Nelson's tenure, the Dragons are 169-68 at home.
Borowicz Brings It
Freshman guard
Kiley Borowicz has made an impact in her collegiate debut season. She has scored in double figures six times this season and led the team in scoring four times. Her career-high is 23 points at Minot State.
