BISMARCK, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team opened the 2018-19 season with a 180-117 dual meet win over the University of Mary in action Sunday in Bismarck, N.D.
MSUM is 1-0 in duals and was a winner in Charlie King's debut as Dragon head coach.
"We are happy with today's results," MSUM head coach Charlie King said. "We were impressed with our ability to win a lot of the close races. It was great to watch some new names really step up and define their roles on the team. The divers were on fire —

Three Dragons won two events — senior
Taylor Beynon, junior
Breah Anderson and freshman
Katelin Winter.
Beynon won the 100 breast in 1:08.31 and also added a win in the 200 breaststroke at 2:25.73. She was second to Winter in the 200 IM at 2:15.29. Anderson won the 50 free in 24.37 and also claimed the 100 free in 53.40.
Winter won the 500 free in 5:20.10, the 200 IM in 2:14.38 and was second in the 200 free in 2:00.39. Freshman
Lexie Bray won the 100 back in 1:01.61 and was second in the 200 back in 2:15.28
Senior
Amber Westereng had a personal-best of 232.60 in the 1-meter diving to win the event over junior teammate
Noelle Berg, who had a score of 200.20. Berg picked up the win in 3-meter diving with a score of 214.90 with Westereng second at 204.20.
The Dragons' 200 medley 'A' relay, consisting of Bray, Beynon, senior
Linnea Johnson and Anderson, won in 1:50.55, edging the UMary team by .07 seconds. MSUM's 400 free relay won in 3:42.72. That consisted of Johnson, Bray, junior
Haley Roed and Anderson.
Junior
Grace Moffat was second in the 1,000 free in 11:25.28 while junior
Leticia Rodovalho was second in the 200 fly in 2:17.50.
MSUM hosts Northern State at 5:30 p.m. on Friday in its home opener at the Nemzek Pool.
