MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team improved to 3-0 on the dual season with a 164-130 win over Augustana in action Saturday at the Nemzek Pool in Moorhead, Minn.

MSUM won seven events on the day, led by two wins from seniors Taylor Beynon and Amber Westereng.

"We had a tough week of practice and new lifting, so it was great to see the women come together and step up and race," MSUM head coach Charlie King said. "We are building our confidence by preforming well when it's not convenient to the way we feel.  It's sometimes hard to see yourself get better everyday, but the results sure show we are getting better every week."

Beynon won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.03, edging junior teammate Erin Fons, who was second in 1:10.81.  Beynon won the 200 breaststroke in 2:28.53 with Fons taking second in 2:35.50. Beynon added a runner-up finish in the 400 IM in 4:58.32.

Westereng won the 1-meter diving with a score of 215.40 and added a win in the 3-meter diving with a score of 239.10.

MSUM's 200 medley 'A' relay won in 1:51.85 with freshman Lexie Bray, Beynon, freshman Katelin Winter and junior Breah Anderson teaming up for that win.

Winter won the 200 free in 1:58.48 and was second in the 500 free in 5:18.94.  Anderson won the 50 free in 24.51.

Junior Leticia Rodovalho was second in the 200 fly in 2:17.87. Junior Grace Moffat was second in the 1,650 free while junior Megan Gates was third in 19:43.01.  Bray was second in the 100 back in 1:00.61 and second in the 200 back in 2:16.46.

MSUM's 400 free 'A' relay was second in 3:42.04. That consisted of senior Linnea Johnson, Winter, Rodovalho and Anderson.

The Dragons are back in action at home on Nov. 3 against Sioux Falls. The dual begins at 1 p.m. at the Nemzek Pool.
