WINONA, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team ran into the No. 7-ranked team in Division II in Winona State and fell, 13-0 and 8-0 in a doubleheader on Saturday in Winona, Minn.
In the opener, sophomore outfielder
Madison Paige and sophomore designated hitter
Payton Gaber were each 2-for-2. Senior outfielder
Aunica Novacek had a double while freshman first baseman Ashley McCance and junior shortstop
Taylor Roddie each had hits.
Freshman Becky Berth took the loss, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) in 1.1 innings. Gaber gave up three runs, all unearned, in 2.2 innings of work.
In the second game, Winona State's Jordyn Kleman threw a five-inning perfect game in the 8-0 Warrior win. She struck out 11. Gaber took the loss for MSUM, giving up eight runs (six earned) in 3.1 innings. Novacek got the final two outs for MSUM.
The Dragons wrap up the 2018 season with a doubleheader Sunday at Upper Iowa. The twin bill begins at noon in Fayette, Iowa.
