BISMARCK, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team dropped a 24-10 contest to No. 24 UMary in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Friday night in Bismarck, N.D.
MSUM fell to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC with the loss while UMary improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Sophomore
Cole Jones, who has moved up to seventh in the nation at 125, suffered a 10-5 loss to UMary's Nate Humann to open the dual. Jones fell to 18-6 on the season. The Marauders won by major decision at 133 to make it 7-0.
Redshirt freshman
Mason Schulz (15-11) got MSUM on the board with a 7-0 win over Hunter Eckert at 141. UMary won at 149 to push the lead back to 10-3.
Freshman
Braydon Ortloff (11-9) won by major decision at 157 for MSUM, picking up a 20-8 win over Isaac Berger to cut the deficit to 10-7.
UMary won the next three matches, including by major decision at 174 and 184, to push the lead to 21-7.
Sophomore
Mitch Kotschevar won at 197, beating UMary's Gabe Anderson 6-3. MSUM lost 4-0 at 285 to wrap up the dual.
MSUM will face Minot State at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Minot, N.D.
