The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team takes a 12-game winning streak into a pair of key home games this week. MSUM hosts Wayne State at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and follows by hosting Augustana at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Dragons (14-2, 10-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) lead the NSIC standings by two games over Augustana and Minnesota Duluth. They are receiving votes in the latest WBCA Coaches Poll.

The Dragons will face Wayne State for a 40th time with the Wildcats leading the series 20-19. MSUM will meet Augustana for a 28th time with the Vikings leading the series 16-10. MSUM beat both teams a year ago.

MSUM (14-2, 10-0 NSIC) extended its winning streak to 12 games with wins over Bemidji State (62-54) and Minnesota Crookston (78-65) at home last weekend. Jacky Volkert led the Dragons with 13.5 points per game.

Sophomore guard Kiley Borowicz averages 13.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game and also leads with 26 steals.  Junior forward Megan Hintz averages 13.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game while senior guard Jacky Volkert is at 11.8 points and leads at 4.2 assists per game.  Junior forward Madi Green averages 5.5 rebounds per game.

As a team MSUM scores 65.8 points per game and shoots 40.7 percent from the field. The Dragons outrebound their foes 41.4-31.0 and allow 54.9 points per game.

Karla Nelson is in her 19th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 339-190 at the school. Nelson is the second-longest tenured head coach in the NSIC.

Wayne State is 11-5 overall and 6-4 in the NSIC after sweeping Winona State (59-58) and Upper Iowa (99-74) last weekend.

Erin Norling leads at 14.6 points per game and averages 6.1 rebounds as well. Halley Busse averages 12.7 points per game while Brittany Bongartz averages 12.4. Busse leads at 4.2 assists.

The Wildcats average 71.9 points per game and allow 68.0.

Brent Pollari is in his first season as the WSC head coach.

The Vikings are 16-3 overall and 8-2 in the NSIC after beating Upper Iowa (79-45) and Winona State (75-65) last weekend at home.

Senior Shelby Selland averages 14.4 points per game and leads at 8.1 rebounds. Lynsey Prosser averages 12.9 points per game while Vishe Rabb averages 11.5 and Abby Hora is at 11.1. Prosser leads at 4.0 assists per game.

Augustana averages 79.9 points per game and shoots 43.4 percent from the field. The Vikings allow 59.8 points per game.

Dave Krauth is in his 30th season as the Augustana head coach with a record of 622-261 at the school.

MSUM Climbs to 22nd in d2SIDA WBB poll
While the Dragons are receiving votes in the official WBCA Coaches Poll yet, they have climbed into the top 25 of the D2SIDA Women's Basketball poll. MSUM is ranked 22nd in the latest D2SIDA Women's Basketball poll released on Jan. 15.
