MSUM Women Open Key Homestand as They Continue Pursuit of NSIC 3-Peat

The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team opens a crucial four-game homestand in its pursuit of an NSIC Championship three-peat this Friday against Bemidji State. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at Nemzek Fieldhouse. MSUM concludes the weekend on Saturday vs. Minnesota Crookston.

The Dragons will face Bemidji State for a 110th time with a 70-39 series lead. The Dragons and Beavers will battle for the Century Trophy on Friday; the trophy goes to the winner of the second meeting of the year between the two teams.

The Golden Eagles and MSUM will meet for a 45th time with the Dragons holding a 36-8 series lead.

MSUM (12-2, 8-0 NSIC) moved its winning streak to 10 games with road wins over Winona State (64-51) and Upper Iowa (58-46) last weekend. Junior Megan Hintz averaged a double-double to lead the Dragons on the weekend.

Sophomore guard Kiley Borowicz averages 14.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and also leads with 24 steals.  Junior forward Megan Hintz averages 13.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while senior guard Jacky Volkert is at 11.6 points and leads at 4.3 assists per game.  Redshirt freshman Peyton Boom averages 5.5 rebounds per game.

As a team MSUM scores 65.1 points per game and shoots 40.4 percent from the field. The Dragons outrebound their foes 41.9-31.4 and allow 53.9 points per game.

Karla Nelson is in her 19th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 337-190 at the school. Nelson is the second-longest tenured head coach in the NSIC.

About Bemidji State
Bemidji State enters the week on a 10-game losing streak after dropping home games to Minnesota Duluth (60-40) and St. Cloud State (74-56) last weekend.

Brooklyn Bachmann and Maria Appicelli average 9.8 points per game to lead the Beavers.  Gabby Dubois averages 6.0 rebounds per game. xBemidji State averages 59.6 points per game and allows 70.4. The Beavers are being outrebounded 39.8-33.8.

Chelsea DeVille is in her fourth season as the Bemidji State head coach with a record of 20-75.

About Minnesota Crookston
Minnesota Crookston is 9-5 overall and 4-4 in the NSIC after splitting at home last weekend. The Golden Eagles lost to St. Cloud State 68-58 before beating Minnesota Duluth 66-61. They will face Northern State on Friday prior to facing MSUM.

Isieoma Odor averages 18.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game to lead UMC. Caitlin Michaelis averages 13.4 points per game while Kylie Post averages 2.3 assists per game to go with a scoring average of 9.6.

As a team UMC scores 68.9 points per game and allows 68.6. The Golden Eagles are being out rebounded 39.2-36.9.

Mike Roysland is in his 13th season as the UMC head coach with a record of 122-218.
