MSUM returns home for an Oct. 18 matchup against No. 19 ranked Upper Iowa at 6 p.m. The next day, the Dragons host No. 20 ranked Winona State at 4 p.m. MSUM is currently 8-9 and 3-6 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games.
Last Week's Recap...
The Dragons are coming off two losses last weekend and also a win on Tuesday. MSUM faced No. 11 ranked St. Cloud State on Oct. 11 and No. 4 ranked Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 12, losing both matches in three sets. MSUM hosted UMary on Oct. 15 and won in four sets. In the loss to St. Cloud State, the Dragons were led by Senior blocker Kaylyn Jenkins and sophomore hitter Amanda Carlson who each had seven kills. Freshman hitter Bridget Witzmann had five. Defensively, sophomore blocker Elise Bakke had four blocks, freshman hitter Teeya Doppler had three, and Jenkins had two. Freshman libero Brooke Walthall led in digs with 12, while sophomore hitter Sarah Petrbok had 11. In the loss to Minnesota Duluth, Jenkins, Petrbok, and Carlson all had six kills each. Defensively, Bakke had six blocks, Doppler with four, and Jenkins with one. Carlson and Walthall each had six digs to lead the Dragons, and Petrbok recorded five. In the win over UMary, Carlson led the way in kills with 11. Witzmann had eight while Jenkins had seven. On the defensive side, Jenkins had four blocks, while Bakke and Witzmann had two each. Walthall had a career-high in digs with 17 to lead the Dragons, while Petrbok had 16 and Carlson had 12.

Upper Iowa
Upper Iowa is currently 12-5 overall and 4-5 in NSIC play. The Peacocks are ranked No. 19 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. UIU is led by senior Anna Winter. Winter leads the Peacocks in kills with 270. She also has 27 blocks this season. The Peacocks are also led defensively by senior Haley Weepie. Weepie leads with 278 digs this season. In Tuesday's loss to Minnesota State, junior Kaitlin Niedert led UIU in kills with 12. Winter added 11 kills along with 3 blocks. Weepie and sophomore Charisma Herr lead the team defensively with 10 digs each.
Winona State
Winona State is 14-3 overall this season and 6-3 in the NSIC. The Warriors are ranked No. 20 in the AVCA poll. The Warriors are led by junior Megan Flom. Flom leads the team in kills with 205. She's also second on the team in blocks with 38 this season. Defensiviely, Winona State is led by junior Becca Pagel. Pagel leads with 271 digs this year. The Warriors are coming off a four-set win against No. 5 ranked Concordia-St. Paul. Flom led the way offensively with a 24-kill performance. Junior Bre Maloney led the way defensively with 15 digs, while junior Kate Masberg had 14, and Pagel had 10. Â
