WAYNE, Neb. --- Senior defender
Lindsey Brownell's goal in the 76th minute was the game winner as the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory over Wayne State Friday afternoon in Wayne, Neb.
MSUM is now 4-3-4 overall and 2-3-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with the win while Wayne State fell to 5-4-3 overall and 5-3-1 in the league.
"It was a wonderful team win," MSUM head coach
Christie Kopietz said. "It was a focused, 90-minute performance."
The score was deadlocked at 0-0 for much of the game until Brownell scored her first goal of the season with an assist from freshman forward
Mckenzie Ickert at the 75:39 mark. The Dragons made that lead stand in the one-goal victory.
Wayne State outshot the Dragons 14-3. Sophomore goalkeeper
Kayleigh Sedlacek had seven saves for MSUM for her fourth shutout of 2019.
