MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team went 1-2 during the final day of the MSUM Penta Dual which was held at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo, N.D.
MSUM beat Northern State 144-85 while losing to St. Cloud State 160-82 and Northern Michigan 183-59.
Sophomore
Katelin Winter won the 200 free in 1:53.87, which was just .63 seconds away from the school record she set at the NSIC Championships last February. She added a second in the 100 butterfly in 57.68. For the weekend Winter had one win and three runner-up finishes.
Senior
Erin Fons was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.84.
Senior
Breah Anderson was second in the 50 free in 24.30 and third in the 100 free in 53.94.
MSUM's 400 medley relay, consisting of sophomore
Lexie Bray, Fons, Winter and Anderson, was second in 3:56.33.
"We have been working hard and it was fun to see our work pay off," MSUM head coach Charlie King said. "The whole team did amazing."
Bray was fourth in the 100 backstroke in 59.1 while senior
Grace Moffat was sixth in the 1,650 free in 18:39.09
Junior
Ali Grinde finished 10
th in the 3-mter diving at 180.50. Freshman
Alexis Yliniemi was the top finisher in the 1-meter diving at 176.10.
In Friday's duals, MSUM went 1-2 as well, beating Northern State 131.5-79.5 and losing to SCSU 160-64 and Northern Michigan 164-60.
MSUM is at the Augustana Invite on Oct. 25-26 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
