MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team's offense was shut down in a 25-11, 25-20, 25-7 loss to No. 7 Northern State in action Thursday night in Fargo, N.D.
MSUM, which has lost five in a row, is now 8-14 overall and 3-11 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while Northern State improved to 19-3 overall and 12-2 in the league.

The Dragons hit .058 for the match, with 24 kills and 19 errors. Northern State hit .424 for the match with 44 kills and only eight errors.
Northern built a 16-4 lead in the first set on its way to a 25-11 win. In the second set MSUM was down 11-2 but cut the lead to 22-18 on a kill by Carlson before losing 25-20. In the third set MSUM was within 7-4 after a Carlson kill but Northern scored the next seven points and rolled to a 25-7 win.
Sophomore hitter Layla Sanati-Zaker had a solo block.
MSUM is at Minot State on Saturday.
