MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team has climbed to No. 12 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Poll released on Tuesday.

The Dragons were 18th in the WBCA preseason poll but have climbed thanks to four impressive nonconference wins to open the 2019-20 campaign.  They are the highest ranked team from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and second-highest team in the Central Region (Fort Hays State is ranked fifth).

The Dragons went 2-0 at the MSUM Classic last weekend, winning both games by 26 points. MSUM is outscoring its opposition 76.0-48.2 this season and outrebounding its foes 49.0-27.8.

The Dragon women are now 13th in the D2SIDA National Media Poll, which is voted on by Division II sports information directors.

MSUM hosts Northern State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
